Switzerland’s Stefan Bellmont & Bruno Stockli and Canadian pairing Dawson Murschell & Jeff Smith took early leads on Day One (Thursday) of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Jimmy Van Schie & Danny Van Trijp (Netherlands) in Saturday’s International Pairs finale at the Modus Super Series.
Bellmont & Stockli of Team Switzerland took the early lead in Group C after winning four of their five matches, as they recorded victories against Richie Burnett & Kurt Parry (Wales), Scott Campbell & Robert Thornton (Scotland), Rene Eidams & Paul Krohne (Germany) and Carl Gabriel & Devon Petersen (South Africa), with their only defeat coming against Ivan Springborg-Poulsen & Andreas Toft-Jorgensen (Denmark), to sit on 8 points from a possible 10 thus far.
Elsewhere, Poulsen & Jorgensen and Burnett & Parry ended the day 2nd and 3rd respectively on 6 points each, whilst Eidams & Krohne and Gabriel & Petersen sit 4th and 5th on 4 points each, with Campbell & Thornton sitting bottom on 2 points.

In Group B, Murschell & Smith took the early lead after winning three of their four matches on Thursday Evening, as they recorded victories against Jason Brandon & Alex Spellman (USA), Steve Beaton & Adrian Lewis (England) and Andreas Harrysson & Anton Ostlund (Sweden), with their only defeat coming against Conor Heneghan & John O’Shea (Ireland), to sit on 6 points from a possible 8 thus far.
Elsewhere, Heneghan & O’Shea also ended the night on 6 points, but sit in 2nd behind the Canadian duo on leg difference, whilst Beaton & Lewis sit in 3rd on 4 points, with Harrysson & Ostlund and Brandon & Spellman sit 4th and 5th respectively on 2 points each.
The MODUS Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Van Schie & Van Trijp (Netherlands) in Saturday’s International Pairs finale.
