Happy New Year to you all, and it’s been a busy start to the year for me already!
The World Darts Championship obviously didn’t go the way that I wanted, but Gian was the better player on the night, and I have no complaints about the result. It was another fantastic tournament, especially with the increased field, and the 2027 edition will be even better with the move to the bigger room. I’m excited already!

The World Series events in Bahrain and Saudi gave me a good chance to regroup and try out a few tweaks to my setup, and I saw that pay off at the Winmau World Masters.
A nine-darter is always special, but to do it in a quality match against Luke Woodhouse that could have gone either way was extra special, and the crowd were electric on the night too.
It was an amazing final against Luke (Littler), and although the result didn’t go in my favour, I was pleased with my performance levels overall through the tournament, and it felt like a big step in the right direction for me.
It was then on to the start of the defence of my Premier League title, and it was good to go to the Media day in Newcastle with the trophy.

It hasn’t been the start that I wanted so far, but I’m picking up points and that’s the main thing. The goal is always to be in the top four at the end of the season, and that doesn’t change for me so it’s all about being as consistent as I possibly can be to get to the O2.
I was over the moon to pick up a Pro Tour title in Wigan too. As I said in my post-final interview, those titles mean a lot, especially being the best in the room on the day in a field of 128 world class players.
I played so well all day, with so many ton-plus averages included, and I was chuffed to come back in the final in the manner I did against Wessel. It’s good to get money on the board early on at the Pro Tour, so that should now allow me to plan my schedule and get some much-needed rest periods.
With the UK Open coming up, it’s set to be a busy few months. I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully there’ll be more titles to come.
