Recent weeks have seen a multitude of cup competitions played down to the latter rounds as well as several of the league’s annual singles darts competitions.
The Sutton and District League were involved in round one of their singles knockout which they staged at four venues, Erdington Club, Old Oscott Sports and Social Club, Rosey Mac’s and Castle Vale Residents Association and played down to the last two players at each venue to arrive at the last eight players.
Winning their way through to the quarter-finals to be played at Walmley Sports and Cricket Club on Tuesday 8th September were N.Clarke, S.Abbott (Bishop Vesey), B.Cadby (Charley’s Flights), J.Grainger (Nomads @ Hollyfields), S.Caswell (Plough and Arrows), C.Reilly (Sutton Sports), C.Day and O.Day (Rise Club).

It was the finals of the doubles knockout for the South West Birmingham Clubs League, staged at the Stirchley United Club and clinching the title with a final win over R.Crawford and S.Smith were K.Webb and S.Hercules.

It was not a good start to week thirteen for John Frost leader of the Heartlands Sugardarts M&E Co Double Top League, as he lost 2-1 to Dylan Bloomer, however he quickly recovered to win by the same magin against Ryan Barritt to keep him top of the table with fifty-seven points from twenty-five games.
Second placed Ryan Cain played two games and won both 3-0 against Dylan Bloomer and Emma Cain to put him on the same number of points as Frost and with a game in hand. Third placed Steve Cain has two games in hand on Frost and one on Ryan Cain after adding on his latest 3-0 win over L.J.Austin followed by a 2-1 success over Stuart Bloomer. Sixth placed Martin Cooper had 3-0 wins against Logan Swords and Sue John and although his fifty-one points are six short of leader Frost, he has four games in hand on him.

Results from game eighteen in the Kings Norton League, had little to no effect on the league table, leaders Northfield awarded a 4-0 win against Bourneville to keep them in pole position with an undefeated thirty-six points and a lead of eight over thei9r nearest rivals Greenlands who have two games in hand on the leaders. There was a rare win for Perfection, only their fourth in seventeen games, when they won 4-3 at home over Longbridge, N.Smith notching a maximum for the home team.

The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League are up to week eight of their season and only four points separate the top seven teams. Cross top the table making it eight straight win when they won 7-0 at home against Hinksford Arms, second placed Old Liberal Club lost little ground as they won 6-1 at Ashwood to also make it eight wins in as many games. Third in the league Bird in Hand had a close 4-3 home win over Seven Stars to keep within two points of the to two while fourth placed Five Ways made it seven straight wins when they won 6-1 at home over Raven.Swan are fifth on fourteen points from eight games, their latest game seeing them win 7-0 at Queens Head (Stourbridge) while sixth placed Gornal British Legion had a 6-1 win at Glasscutters ‘A’ to give them a total of twelve points from their seven games.

Quarry Bank Liberal Club continue to impress in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League, adding their latest 9-0 home win over Meadow Lark to their tally to keep intact their four points advantage at the top of the table over second placed Red Cow ‘1’ who were also 9-0 winners in their local derby with Red Cow ‘2’. Third placed Gornal British Legion are a further six points adrift after they added on their 7-2 success at Royal.

Game seven fixtures in the Rowley Monday Night League, produced a top-of-the-table clash between division one leaders Bell and second placed Gate Hangs Well, the result was a 7-2 win for Bell to make it seven wins in as many games. Bell hold on to pole position and Gate Hangs Well remain second but are now four points behind their victors and only two points to the good on third placed Wonder after they won 6-3 at Snooks.
There were maximums for D.Stanton (Romsley Cricket Club) and Connor Allan (Gate Hangs Well).
In division two a 7-2 win at Spring Meadow keeps Bostin Darts ‘B’ to of the division and makes it seven straight wins for the leaders. Second and third placed Double Tops Micro Bar and Bostin Darts ‘C’ are both on twelve points, two short of the leaders after in turn they won 7-2 at Waterfall and 6-3 at home over Shelter. Vine lost 7-2 at home against Star Valley but their M.Preedy found the three treble twenties.

No change at the top of the Brierley Hill Monday Night League:League, as the top two teams, Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ and Bridge both won 7-2, the former winning away against Wombourne Club, who drop one place to sixth and the latter winning at home over Kingswinford British Legion. Both of the two teams are on forty-eight points with Bridge having a game in hand on the Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’. Third and fourth placed Lamp Tavern and Raven are both on forty-four points, Lamp winning 6-3 at Rose and Crown ‘A’ while Raven had a close 5-4 verdict at Dudley Spotrts ‘B’.

On the fixture card for the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League, was the doubles knockout finals night and lifting the winners silverware were Alex Nicholls and Ricky Riaz (Swan) whohad a fianl victory over Dan Haden and Matt Moore (Chop House).

Reigning champion of the Amblecote RBL Premier League Jason Lowe (above), is where he left off the end of last season, top of the table. Lowe has played and won all twenty-one of his games in the current season, his latest fixtures seeing him win 7-0 against Matt Davies and then 6-1 against Craig Slater to give him a total points of 153, he has a lead of nineteen over second placed Ian Townsend, who in his latest fixtures followed up a 4-3 win over Kian Rogers with a 7-0 success against Sam Page.
Third placed Spike Green has a game in hand on the top two players but is thirty-nine points behind Lowe and has twenty fewer than Townsend after he beat Trevor Cunningham 6-1 and Daz Hand 4-3. Andy Vellender is gradually playing catch-up and is slowly climbing the table, his latest 5-2 win over Mark Hopkins and 7-0 win against Stephen Cartwright has taken him to seventh place with 110 points and although some forty-three off the top he still has four games in hand.

It’s as-you-were in the Black Country Ladies Team Super League, Allen’s Bar ‘B’ holding on to the number one spot with a 4-1 win over second placed Allen’s ‘Bar ‘A’ to give them a seven points lead. Bottom of the table Allen’s Bar ’D’ had a 3-2 win over Allen’s Bar ‘C’ but remain at the foot of the table with fifty points, just one fewer than their opponents who are just above them in the table.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club make up the top three, they too had a close 3-2 home win in their game with Northfield Darts Club to leave them on 104 points, eleven adrift of the leaders but with two games in hand.

Following two surprising defeats in her last outing, Jacqueline Maiden was back to winning ways once again in the West Midlands Ladies Super League when she won 3-0 against Sarah Maybury, to leave her nine points adrift of leader Evonne Taylor who won by the same 3-0 margin against Crysta Davies-Wilcox, Maiden has played one game fewer than Taylor.

A 5-3 win over Carl Zambra sees Simon Pritchard remain top of division one of the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League with a total of eighty-nine points from thirteen games, which gives him a points lead of twelve over his nearest rival Chris Manoila who didn’t play this week and now has two games in hand. Dave Rich has moved up into third place from seventh after he beat Mark Daniel 7-0, his seventy-one points coming from eleven games.
In division two Neville Quinton didn’t play, and as a result loses pole position and drops to second three points shy of new leader Wayne Barratt who after his 8-0 win over Eddie Gripton has played two games more than Quinton.

No change in the top six places of the singles league in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, Junction ‘B’ remaining top of the table with sixty points after adding on their latest 7-0 win at Wheatsheaf. Second placed Dog and Partridge ‘B’ had a 6-1 home win over New Gate Inn and are six points behind the leaders and four ahead of third placed Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’, who won their home game with Wednesfield Legion 6-1.
Only four points separate the top four teams in the doubles league, Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ top the table with forty-eight points, their latest 2-1 win over Wednesfield Legion keeping them two points to the good on second and third placed Junction ‘B’ and Golden Lion ‘A’, Junction ‘B’ winning 3-0 at Wheatsheaf while Golden Lion ‘A’ lost ground and went down 2-1 at Three Crowns.
