The modern darts landscape is awash with aspiring content creators, livestream personalities and social media hopefuls, yet very few have managed to enjoy the kind of authentic rise piloted by David Williams. Better known to thousands within the darting community as Darts for Fun, Williams has transformed himself from an everyday darts obsessive into one of the most recognisable independent personalities within the online game.
Now, in a moment that must feel gloriously surreal for a man who once circled dart sets in catalogues as a child with the same reverence archaeologists reserve for ancient manuscripts, Williams is preparing for the release of his very own darts in collaboration with Red Dragon.

Speaking to AJ Urmstom-Toft of DartsWorld, Williams admitted the magnitude of the moment still feels difficult to comprehend.
“It’s hard to explain it. It’s obviously gone from absolutely nothing to things that I only could have dreamt of when I was younger to the point where I was looking at the catalogue from Red Dragon as a kid, circling things for Christmas, to now finally being on a box and being sold through the same company.”
That sentiment encapsulates the almost cinematic trajectory of Williams’ rise. In an age where internet fame can often feel as artificial as supermarket cheese or a politician’s smile during election week, Williams has cultivated a following through genuine enthusiasm, relatability and an unabashed love for the sport.
Urmstom-Toft himself revelled in the nostalgia of darting culture, reminiscing about the days of “the Eric Bristow red rings” and those unmistakable old-school Red Dragon flights that many darting aficionados remember with near religious fondness.

The conversation soon pivoted toward the creation of Williams’ darts and the unexpectedly organic process behind the collaboration.
“So basically, I just got in contact with them through social media, we were doing things together, showing products and stuff like that. And they come forward saying, look, would you like to be a part of the team? I obviously said, yes, straight away.”
The simplicity of the story somehow makes it all the more charming. There was no labyrinthine corporate pitch meeting, no flamboyant marketing symposium involving men in expensive shoes discussing demographics over oat milk lattes. Instead, it was merely a case of two parties recognising authenticity when they saw it….
