DW starts, as has been the case for a number of years, with:

On The Oche!

WHAT a couple of months it has been. Sport is often about breakthrough moments and historic achievements and darts has seen a surfeit of them. But more Beau Greaves later!

First an acknowledgment of two players who have contributed much but can often be overlooked. Andrew ’Godfinger’ Gilding is a PDC major champion much loved by his fellow professionals. But, his humble nature and everyman persona does not always suit the desired dynamic narrative. Luke Woodhouse is another player who has achieved a great deal in the game without fuss and steadily climbed into the PDC’s top 20.

Both men recently claimed their first PDC Players Championship title. In Luke’s case it was also his first PDC ranking title after 11 years. Goldfinger had made 442 previous attempts over 14 years.

Appropriately Woody defeated Andy to claim his maiden crown, only a few days after Andrew had broken his own duck. The genuine scenes afterward, as Gilding warmly congratulated his conqueror, tell you much about both men and the best of our game.

Meanwhile, the Amateur side of darts is booming in all areas and any category you care to name. Female specific events especially are expanding under the ADC banner with their Vault and Championship tournaments proving successful already.

Within these pages you may also spot a nod to another area of rapid and intriguing expansion. The rise of the ‘Darts Influencer’ has been the subject of much debate – just check out Gary Anderson on the subject via YouTube – but a hybrid of player/influencer seems to be emerging and we were pleased to meet one.

Don’t miss the latest installment of The Exhibitionist where we are treated to the highlights of one of the best of our recent DartsWorld events.

Unless you have been asleep in a cave in recent months you will have seen the coverage of these on our social media platforms and it’s safe to say they are superbly received as are the photos and clip reels.

Don’t forget to add dartsworld.com to your life and visit dartsworldstore.com to find tickets for our upcoming events.
