Luke Humphries: Playing It Cool (5)

Diamond Draws Competitions

Hi all, it’s been a very busy few months since my last column!

The UK Open came and went in Minehead, and it was disappointing to go out in the last 16, but Danny (Noppert) was a worthy winner, and I can’t have any complaints about the result.

I’m really pleased with myself as to how the back end of the Premier League went for me.

It has been a really tough campaign, but to pick up the points that I needed, when I needed them, was really pleasing for me.

It was obviously disappointing losing my great record in Leeds, as that night always means a lot, but to back a final up there with a win in Birmingham to make the playoffs was just what I needed, and a reflection of where my game is going mid-season.

To then back all that up with a win on the Pro Tour was also sweet, and my averages were big all day against some tough opponents. Like I said in my post-match interview, when it clicks, I’m hard to beat, and it’s nice that that part of my game is now coming through again.

It’s a packed few months ahead, and I’ll be teaming up again with Luke Littler at the World Cup of Darts.

It’s a tournament that I’m really looking forward to. A lot of people thought we would just stroll to the title last year, but there are a lot of quality teams in it, and we will need to be at our best in Germany to get the job done.

We’ll give it our all.

From there, it’ll be the World Matchplay soon after, and that’s one I have my heart set on winning again.

It’s always a special tournament, and I’d love to lift the Phil Taylor Trophy for a second time.

Thanks as always for your support, and to my sponsors.
