Scotland’s World Cup star Cameron Menzies boosted his hopes of World Matchplay qualification in Bratislava last night.
Menzies delivered crushing 6-1 win over Host Nation qualifier Gabriel Varaljay, which sets up an intriguing showdown against Gerwyn Price on Saturday evening.
Menzies currently occupies the final provisional place in July’s event, although his closest challenger Dave Chisnall also tasted victory on Day One, overturning a 5-4 deficit to edge past home favourite Adrian Dudek.
Kim Huybrechts (below) is another high-profile name in contention for a place in next month’s Blackpool showpiece, after firing in five 180s to fend off the challenge of Keane Barry.

The Slovak Darts Open continues from 1200 BST on Saturday, as the seeded stars – including Dutch duo Van Veen and Van Gerwen – enter the fray on Day Two.
Live coverage will be streamed on DAZN for viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with additional coverage available on CANAL+ SPORT 5 and via the CANAL+ streaming service in Poland.
Coverage will also be broadcast on PDCTV (excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and through bookmakers worldwide.
