Legendary arrowsmith Steve Beaton fell at the final hurdle on Saturday night as Ted Evetts was victorious in Week Four at the MODUS Super Series, after defeating Beaton in the final, to secure a place in Champions Week and pick up darts’ top weekly prize.
Beaton, the 1996 Lakeside Champion and multiple PDC title winner, had battled through three days of Group A, where he lost out to John Henderson for the first Qualifer spot, before coming through the later groups in one of Friday’s five qualifier positions.
Evetts, who entered the finale having finished 3rd in Group B on Thursday and Friday, began the night by winning both of his group phase matches as he defeated Paul Hogan and James Richardson to progress through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Matthew Dennant and from there, Evetts whitewashed his compatriot, 4-0, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Evetts came up against ‘The Bronzed Adonis’, who’d defeated Paul Hogan, another player still firing in his 60s, in the last four, and in a battle between two Former PDC Tour Card Holders, Evetts came out on top to defeat Beaton 4-1 to seal his place in Champions Week as well as collecting the £5,000 first prize.

The MODUS Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week Five, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field including the likes of Neil Duff and Andy Hamilton.
