Van den Herik Heads Tight MODUS Super Series Group

A tightly contested evening session in Group B saw three players finish level on points after the opening night of action. MODUS Super Series Week Five had already seen Welsh form horse Derek Coulson qualify for Saturday’s final and battle was joined to fine his five opponents.

Jamai van den Herik, James Hubbard and Ram Guevara Jr all recorded three wins from four matches to sit on 6 points, while George Killington claimed a solitary victory and John O’Shea finished winless.

Van den Herik, who could count himself unlucky ton have missed out on winning Group A, produced some of the best darts of the night, including a hard-fought 4-3 win over Killington and a dominant 4-1 success against O’Shea. Hubbard was similarly consistent, bouncing back from his loss to van den Herik with solid victories over Guevara and Killington.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the session was the form of Ram Guevara Jr, who beat both van den Herik and Killington and now finds himself right in the mix for Finals Night qualification.

The group returns on Friday evening for the second and final day of round-robin play, with the top three advancing to Saturday’s Finals Night.
