Hall Retains ADC Winmau Championship Title

Play The Pro Darts Scorer

Graham Hall emerged victorious at the ADC Winmau Championship Grand Finals, as he went through the pain barrier to retain his crown at MODUS Live Lounge in Portsmouth, taking the trophy with a 6-3 win against Jack Main in the final.

Hall won the title last year in dramatic fashion, dodging six match darts from Kurt Parry in the final, but it was much more straightforward this time on the board at least for the Alcester thrower.

Hall, who came into the tournament with a slipped disc, and was visibly in discomfort throughout, took a solid win against Ashley Coleman in the last 16, and started finals day with an impressive 5-3 win against 16-year-old Lewis Cook, pinning all five of his attempts at double, and taking out 114 to seal victory over the youngster.

Ryan Hogarth would be Hall’s last four opponent, after ‘The Headhunter’ took out top seed Danny Ayres in the opening match of the afternoon by a 5-3 scoreline, but the Scot was chasing the game against Hall, and ‘G-Man’ ran out a 6-4 winner.

Jack Main came through the other side of the draw impressively, starting with a 5-1 win against second seed Callum Francis.

‘The Main Man’ averaged over 95, and was five from eight on the doubles in a dominant display, and that set up a semi-final showdown with Steve Lennon, who had got the best of a scrappy quarter final with Chas Barstow that he won 5-3.

Main punished several Lennon mistakes on the doubles to go 4-0 ahead, but Lennon battled back and forced a deciding leg after dodging missed doubles for the match from Main. The Irishman would then fluff his lines multiple times in the decider, allowing Main to take out 52 to advance to the trophy match.

The final itself was nip and tuck, with an exchange of holds and then breaks of throw leaving the match poised at 3-3, but Hall took control, and finishes of 100 and 105 were included along the way before Hall pinned double 16, the double that gave him glory 12 months ago, to take home the trophy and the £3,000 first prize.
