Luke Humphries produced a performance for the ages as the Swiss Darts Trophy moved into its final day in Basel. The world number two dismantled Krzysztof Ratajski 6-0 with a staggering 114.15 average – the highest ever recorded at this event – to storm into the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion.
Elsewhere there was drama and quality in equal measure. Jonny Clayton produced a gutsy display to edge Rob Cross 6-4 in a high-quality encounter, despite Voltage posting a superior 106.68 average.
Gian van Veen (below) continued his strong form with a 6-4 win over Tom Bissell, averaging just over 100.

Mensur Suljovic once again showed his big-match temperament by coming from behind to defeat Ross Smith 6-5. The Austrian has however caused some controversy with his his motioning to the crowd during his opponents turn and other ‘motivational’ efforts.
Karel Sedlacek caused another upset by seeing off Josh Rock 6-2, Bradley Brooks accounted for Jeffrey de Graaf 6-3, Dirk van Duijvenbode beat Michael Smith 6-3, and Cristo Reyes produced a clinical 6-4 victory over Damon Heta.
The last eight is now set: Sedlacek faces Clayton, Brooks meets van Veen, Suljovic takes on van Duijvenbode, and Reyes has the unenviable task of stopping Humphries in the evening session.
A new Swiss Darts Trophy champion will be crowned later tonight.
