October has always been a busy and exciting month in the game and business of darts and 2022 has proven no exception, Darts World Extra 6 ( Read or Download Free!) attempts to keep you abreast of it all:
The ability of Michael van Gerwen to capture the biggest titles, even when admittedly not yet 100% back to his dominant best, is a testament to his incredible talent but also a will to win that is only present in the tiniest proportion of sporting superstars. Adding the World Grand Prix crown, his 6th, to Premier League and World Matchplay titles, just before the busiest period of the season, throws down the gauntlet to those who have been rivalling The Green Machine in recent years.
The European Championships provided their traditional mix of upsets, defending Champions seem to go out early almost every year, turned up to the max with Ross Smith claiming the trophy in sensational style.
The barely believable efforts of Beau Greaves have seen her become the 8th wonder of the darts world, with that number of consecutive PDC Women’s series titles, and she will now display those skills in December at Ally Pally!
Elsewhere the sheer volume of activity is hard to keep up with. MODUS’s Super Series had already grabbed its share of the limelight and added a huge amount to that space just below the PDC Tour card elite. Their new partnership with the ADC will provide both a new route and remove excuses from the if only I had a chance brigade.
