Langley Arrows Annointed as Sheldon League Champions

Play the Pro Darts Scorer

After having a bye in the latest round of fixtures in the Premier League of the Sheldon and District Winter League Langley Arrows are confirmed champions of the division, however they only won the title on average as their nearest rivals Sheldon Marlborough Arrows ended their campaign with a somewhat surprising 5-4 defeat at home against Brian’s Flights who are just two places off the foot of the table with ten points while their hosts finished on the same twenty-eight points as Langley Arrows, the defeat costing them the title. Banbury Club got the wooden spoon having just three wins in their sixteen fixtures.

The Premier Division Shadow League title is still undecided but EBAHA who still have an away fixture to play at Raven Arrows have six points which is two more than the three teams below them, however bottom placed Brian’s Flights also have a game to play, a home tie with Mackadown Sports and Social Club, and although they trail EBAHA on average and by two points they could still steal the title.

Smithswood Social Club ended their division one campaign with a 6-3 home success over Langley Flights and although second placed Kingshurst Labour Club have one more home game to play against Iron Horse Rebels, they are six points adrift of the champions. Hollywood Social Club finished bottom of the division with six points, managing just three wins from their eighteen games.

Although Kingshurst Labour Club will probably finish as runners-up in the division they have won the Shadow League title, their eighteen points six more than runners-up Sheldon Marlborough Ridge.

The division two title is still wide-open with any one of the top three teams still able to clinch the title. Currently Raven top the table with eighteen points and one more fixture to play at Moseley Rugby Club, The next three teams are also on eighteen points, second placed Moseley Rugby Club having two more fixtures, in addition to Raven they have to play at home against Digby. Third in the table Lyndon Old Boys also have two fixtures outstanding, both of them at home against Maggies and Digby. Although fourth placed Sheldon Marlborough Flights have one more game to play away to Digby it is unlikely they will finish better off than the three teams above them.

Raven have won the Shadow League title, their twelve points, with one more fixture to play, four more than second placed Shirley Misfits who have completed their programme and could lose out on the runners-up spot as third placed Maggies, who are on the same eight points as the Misfits, still have one game to play.

With all of the division one issues decided in the South West Birmingham Clubs League, division two have continued with their fixtures and although Quarry Lane Club had already won the divisional title the runners-up spot was still to be decided. Perfection began their last game in second place but a 5-3 home win over Bartley Green FC was not enough to see them hold on to the number two spot as Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club ended their campaign with a 7-1 home win over E57 to finish on the same seventeen points as Perfection but with the narrowest of average margins lead, just a single leg to finish as runners-up.

Moseley All Services Club are the only team in the league without a single point, they are bottom of division two with one fixture to play, an away game against E57 who are just above them, could Moseley, after eleven defeats actually finish the season with a win?
