Breaking news from Antwerp – Gerwyn Price has officially withdrawn from the Flanders Darts Trophy:
Earlier this week, the Welshman already pulled out of a Players Championship in Milton Keynes after his hand ballooned to the size of a Ford Granada. Unsurprisingly, it hasn’t quite deflated yet.
While that’s a blow to the Belgian Gezzy fan club, it’s something of a lottery win for Ryan Joyce or Ricardo Pietreczko, either of whom would’ve had to deal with him in round two.
As for Luke Littler, the jury’s still out. The World Champion was in the dentist’s chair last night for emergency surgery, proving even tungsten titans aren’t immune to toothache.
And anyone who’s suffered that particular misery knows it’s hardly ideal prep for a weekend of high-pressure arrows.
For now, The Nuke is still expected to play. Somewhere in Antwerp, however, Dylan Slevin is quietly praying otherwise.
Nothing personal, of course – it’s just a lot easier to take on a stand-in than a teenage phenomenon who can casually rattle off ton-plus averages between paracetamol doses.
