Belgium Lead Friday’s Five Into International Pairs Darts Finale

FRIDAY saw five pairs representing Germany, Ireland, Belgium USA and Scotland secured their places in Saturday’s International Pairs Finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the MODUS Super Series darts.

Daniel Klose & Paul Krohne, Conor Heneghan & John O’Shea, Andy Baetens & Brian Raman, Danny Baggish & Danny Lauby and Scott Campbell & Jim McEwan all join Richie Burnett & Kurt Parry (Wales), the winners of Group A earlier in the week.

Klose & Krohne of Team Germany, who entered Friday’s play on 10 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall after winning four of their five matches.

They recorded victories against Iain Cash & Nicolas Thuillier (France), Conor Heneghan & John O’Shea (Ireland), Danny Van Trijp & Wesley Van Trijp (Netherlands) and David Munyua & Peter Wachuiri (Kenya), with their only defeat coming against Neil Duff & Richard McKee (Northern Ireland), to end on 18 points from a possible 20 overall.

Elsewhere, Team Ireland also progressed through to Saturday’s Finale after finishing 2nd overall on 14 points, whilst Team Netherlands finished 3rd on 12 points, Team Kenya in 4th on 8 points, Team Northern Ireland in 5th on 6 points and Team France bottom on 2 points.

In Group B, Team Belgium of Baetens & Raman topped the group overall after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four on Friday Evening.

The experienced pair recorded victories against Danny Baggish & Danny Lauby (USA), Scott Campbell & Jim McEwan (Scotland), Dawson Murschell & Jeff Smith (Canada) and Steve Beaton & Fallon Sherrock (England), to end on a maximum 16 points from a possible 16 overall.

Elsewhere, Team USA & Team Scotland also progressed through to Saturday’s Finale, after finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Baggish & Lauby ending on 10 points and Campbell & McEwan on 8 points, whilst Team Canada finished 4th on 4 points and Team England bottom on 2 points.

The MODUS Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of International Pairs Week with the six pairings battling it out for the weekly top prize.

MODUS DARTS INTERNATIONAL PAIRS TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • International Pairs is the only dedicated pairs tournament on the MODUS Super Series calendar. It follows the format of a regular MODUS Super Series week, with all 104 matches played in pairs format. 
  • Teams from twelve nations will compete across the week, with six advancing to the final on Saturday, 25 April. Only one pair can lift the trophy and claim victory for their nation. 
  • The field features established players, from BDO and WDF World Champions to former PDC Tour Card holders and trailblazer Fallon Sherrock, the first female to win a PDC World Championship match and the first woman to hit a televised 9-darter.
