Women’s Series Will See World Matchplay Qualification Drama

Diamond Draws Competitions

Drama is assured at the PDC Women’s Series this weekend, as the race to qualify for the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay reaches its climax in Wigan.

The Robin Park Leisure Centre will host a decisive weekend of action on June 20-21, as some of the biggest names in the women’s game compete for the £2,500 top prize in Events 13-16.

The top eight players on the rolling 12-month Women’s Series rankings following Event 16 will seal their spots in this year’s Women’s World Matchplay, which takes place in Blackpool on July 26.

Reigning champion Lisa Ashton will headline at the Winter Gardens, alongside two-time winner Beau Greaves and Fallon Sherrock, who prevailed in the tournament’s inaugural staging in 2022.

DartsWorld’s Gemma Hayter (main image) lies in an impressive 4th place behind three of the game’s greatest stars; Greaves, Ashton and Hedman and £300 ahead of Fallon Sherrock (below).

Our contributor Natalie Gilbert is also within striking distance. The final (8th) position is currently held by Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen who is on £3,800. But, with little more than an event’s first prize (of £2500) between those ranked as low as 30 and that last qualification spot, it’s clear that a standout weekend could be enough to seize a Blackpool berth for almost any player.
