New Zealand-based manufacturer Shot Darts has continued to augment its international portfolio of talent with the acquisition of one of English darts’ most promising emerging figures, following the announcement that Danny Ayres has joined the company’s player roster.
Hailing from Crewe in Cheshire, the 32-year-old has enjoyed a campaign of considerable distinction on the PDC Challenge Tour, where a succession of accomplished performances has elevated him to fourth place on the Order of Merit. Such consistency has established Ayres among the foremost contenders in the race for a coveted PDC Tour Card and has significantly enhanced his prospects of securing a place at the 2027 World Championship.

Away from the Challenge Tour, Ayres has also become a familiar presence, and a successful one, on the ADC circuit and at the MODUS Super Series, further broadening his competitive experience and demonstrating an ability to perform across multiple formats.

His impressive exploits on that PDC secondary circuit have earned precious call-ups. Seven invitations to Players Championship events have already arrived during the course of the year, providing valuable exposure against the sport’s elite practitioners. Although a breakthrough run beyond the second round has thus far proved elusive, those appearances have furnished invaluable experience and offered further evidence that Ayres possesses the attributes required to compete at the highest level.
Indeed, the margins separating victory and defeat at ProTour level are notoriously slender, and many of the game’s established stars required time before translating potential into tangible success. Consequently, Ayres’ repeated opportunities on the senior circuit should be viewed less as frustrations and more as important stages in his continuing development.

Shot Darts Building an Intriguing Player Roster
For Shot , whose reputation for craftsmanship and innovation has earned widespread acclaim throughout the global darting community, the signing represents another judicious addition to an increasingly impressive stable of players which boast former World Champion, Michael Smith and Irish number one, William O’Connor within their ranks.
With substantial ranking opportunities still available during the remainder of the campaign, Ayres finds himself well placed to transform an already commendable season into one of genuine significance. Should his current trajectory continue, the Cheshire thrower may soon discover that aspirations which once appeared distant are becoming increasingly attainable realities.
For both player and manufacturer, the future appears exceptionally auspicious.
