It can not be denied that much of the success of modern down is down to the long term work and business skill of the Professional Darts Corporation. From building relations with SKY and revolutionising thee coverage in the 1990s through to globalising the game and building a youth system in the 2010s the progress has been remarkable.
So it should come as no surprise that the PDC has been shortlisted in two categories for the 2026 Sports Business Awards, including a fourth consecutive nomination for the Best Sports Event of the Year.

The annual Sports Business Awards recognises and rewards achievements by the teams behind the scenes that facilitate sporting excellence and endeavours, with the PDC having received multiple awards and nominations in recent years.
Last year, the PDC were nominated in two categories, with the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship nominated for Best Sports Event of the Year award and the PDC put forward for the Best National Governing Body or Organising Body of the Year award.
In 2024, the 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship won the Best Sports Event of the Year award, while the PDC was also nominated in four other categories.
This year, the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship has been shortlisted for the Best Sports Event of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year, following the incredible success of the sell-out tournament which saw Luke Littler storm to back-to-back World Championship titles.
Darts Doing Good
The PDC’s Darts on Your Doorstep initiative has also received a nomination in the Best Sports Community Scheme Special Impact award, which was launched in November 2024 and has been a resounding success.

Set up as a PDC in the Community partnership with Smart Energy GB, the scheme helps to inform people about how smart meters can keep money in their pockets and gives community-focussed clubs the benefit of top-class Winmau equipment for their darts areas.
Some of the sport’s elite stars, including Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton, have attended the launches of new Darts on Your Doorstep venues, highlighting the benefit that local clubs can experience with the newly-installed darts facilities.
The work done by PDC in the Community was also recognised at the 2023 Sports Business Awards, when the Bullseye Maths numeracy scheme received the bronze award in the “Best Sports Community or CSR Scheme – Other Sports” category.
The 2026 Sports Business Awards will take place on Friday November 27 in London, when the award winners will be named.
