This event had meant more than usual to Darts World founder and long tine editor Tony Wood presented the trophy named in honour of his kate wife:
NINETEEN-year-old Kirk Shepherd regained the British Teenage Championship crown in high scoring style.
A large, enthusiastic crowd at the Kettering Leisure Village, Northants, witnessed Kirk (Kent) win the final with a 3-1 scoreline against Glamorgan’s Carl Lewis.
Kirk took the first two legs in 20 darts with Carl hot on his heels. With first throw advantage, the Welshman took the third leg in another 20 darts.Hitting 180 with his first three darts in the final leg, Kirk raced to a 17-dart leg to win the title which he had previously won two years earlier.
His average in the final was 26.69 with Carl hitting 25.50.Kirk beat another Glamorgan player, Steven Thorn, 3-1 in the semi-finals. Carl fought back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Ayrshire’s Cameron Menzies 3-2.
A total of 64 county champions competed in the national finals out of an initial entry of over 600.As championship winner Kirk received prizes to the value of over £500 and also the Barbara Wood Memorial Trophy, in memory of the late wife of Darts World editor, Tony Wood.
The championships, now in their 26th year, were sponsored by Elkadart, Darts World magazine and the British Darts Organisation.

BRITISH YOUTH K.O. CUP: Renfrewshire collect their second title
HAVING just missed out on the title last year, Renfrewshire made no mistake at the 2006 British Youth Inter-Counties KO Cup finals held at the Kettering Leisure Village, Northants.
The only Scottish county entered for the tournament, Renfrewshire beat Kent 4-3 in the final. They also won the tournament in 2002.
Renfrewshire’s journey to the final began in the first round when they defeated Berkshire 5-2.They beat Glamorgan ‘B’ 4-3 in the second round and Essex 4-3 in the quarter-finals. A 5-2 victory over Lancashire put them in the final.
Kent eliminated the Lincolnshire ‘A’ team 6-1 in the first round and their ‘B’ team 5-2 in the second round. They beat Cambridgeshire North 4-3 in the quarter-finals and Northants 4-3 in the semi-finals.A total of 24 youth county teams participated in the tournament.
