The Welsh Classic wrapped up on the Main Ballroom and Queen Vic stages at Sand Bay Holiday Village on Saturday, with three different winners emerging from the Open, Women’s and Youth catagories as the WDF Silver-ranked event took place at Weston-super-Mare.
Welsh Classic 2026 (Open Classification)
Kaya Baysal claimed the Welsh Classic Open title, beating Welshman Llew Bevan, who was fresh off a brilliant run to last week’s MODUS Super Series weekly final. Bevan had made the short trip through his half of the draw look straightforward, dispatching Scott Robertson 5-1 in the semi-final.

But Baysal arrived at the final having already come through the tougher test of the two, edging past Pat Scurfield 5-3. That extra work in the last four didn’t slow Baysal down on the night, as he came through a 6-3 winner, having come back from 3-1 down to reel off five legs on the spin, including 84 and 146 checkouts.
A 6th senior WDF title to Baysal’s name makes him one of the standout names heading into the business end of the year.
Women’s Welsh Classic Darts
The women’s final went the distance, with Sweden’s Vicky Pruim outlasting Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen 5-4 in a match that swung deep into the closing legs.

Viinikainen had reached the final by beating Rhian O’Sullivan 4-1 in the semi, a result that flipped the script from the Masters just days earlier, where O’Sullivan had got the better of Viinikainen in a tighter 4-3 contest, on her way to lifting the Welsh Masters.
Pruim’s route to the final was similarly hard-earned, seeing off the experienced Deta Hedman 4-2, before completing the job with the tournament’s tightest scoreline of the weekend.
Pruim rejoins the WDF winners’ circle for the first time since March 2024.
Youth Welsh Classic
Jack Nankervis took the Welsh Classic Youth title with a 5-1 win over Addison Hefferon, though the final scoreline undersold how competitive the path there had been. Nankervis needed a deciding leg to see off Mason Teese 3-2 in the semi, while Hefferon’s route was just as tight, edging WDF World No.1 Mitchell Lawrite 3-2 in the other last-four match.
Once at the final, though, Nankervis took control and never looked back. An 88.25 win saw ‘Jumping Jack’ take his 7th WDF Youth title, two years on from his first at the very same tournament.
