Gerwyn Price is once again flirting with the idea of swapping the oche for the boxing ring after a busy few days of social media call-outs.
It began in the aftermath of last weekend’s Misfits Boxing card in Newcastle. Ibiza Final Boss (Jack Kay) secured a split-decision victory over late stand-in Kellen Jenkins, taking his record to 2-0 under the Misfits banner.
When the promotion posted the result on Instagram, the former world champion was quick to reply with a simple but pointed message:
“Sign me up 🥊”.
Just days later, internet personality and challenge specialist Dean Dodd threw down his own gauntlet. Price’s response was typically blunt and money-focused:
“If the money is right, I’d happily put you to sleep.”
The 41-year-old Welshman, currently ranked world number four, has form for this kind of chat. A former professional rugby union and league player, Price has previously claimed he could knock out Jake Paul with a single punch and once scheduled a charity boxing bout in 2022 before withdrawing on medical advice.
His physical background and no-nonsense public persona make the crossover talk more intriguing than the average influencer challenge.

Reaction across darts circles has been a familiar mix of amusement, scepticism and “money talks” realism. Fans have joked about Price’s fitness regime and rugby past giving him a genuine edge over pure social-media fighters, while others note that these exchanges rarely progress beyond the comments section.
Darts accounts have highlighted both the Ibiza Final Boss comment and the Dodd reply, with the consensus so far being curiosity rather than expectation of an imminent fight announcement.
Whether anything materialises remains to be seen. Price has made clear that the financial offer would need to be right, and Misfits has not publicly responded.
For now, it remains entertaining banter from one of the sport’s most outspoken characters — and another reminder that ‘The Iceman’ is never short of confidence in himself.
