On Saturday, the finals for the 2026 Hungarian Super League took place, the culmination of the 24-event season, with 21-year-old András Borbély claiming the spoils.

The top eight players from the seasons Order of Merit took part, with the evening split into two sessions infront of a small crowd and streamed on Hungarian television.

The Quarter-Finals saw the second and third seeds both fall in the bottom half, as Nándor Major breezed past László Ancsin, and another youngster in Zsolt Csajbók took care of Hungary’s World Cup star in 2026 – Pál Székely.

András Borbély put in a solid performance to take care of György Jehirszki, having lost the first set, while top seed Patrik Kovács won a tight encounter with Péter Kelemen.

The real action began as the evening session kicked off in Budapest.

András Borbély put in a brilliant performance to beat Hungarian number one Patrik Kovács 3-0, not dropping a single leg in the entire match. Nándor Major also managed a comfortable win, as he took out Csajbók 3-0 himself, winning the sets 3-1, 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.

The final was set, and it would be a debutant at Ally Pally, but it wasn’t a dramatic final. András Borbély continued his brilliant form to pick up a second consecutive 3-0 win without the loss of a single leg! The 21-year-old actually won 21 consecutive legs to claim the title, including whitewashes in both the Semi-Finals and the Final!

András Borbély has been the next big hope for Hungarian darts for some time.

He made his European Tour debut in Budapest in 2022, aged just 17, in a 6-2 defeat to Jeffrey de Zwaan, but it was his return three years later that made people notice. He suffered defeat to Luke Woodhouse in 2025, but produced a brilliant 96.55 average, including a big fish on the way. He will be a very tricky opponent in the opening round of the World Championships next month.

He joins Karel Sedláček, Krzysztof Ratajski, and Sebastian Białecki as the East-European qualifiers so far, with Adam Gawlas also sat in a spot with just two ProTour’s to go.

The Polish qualifier will take place on the 13th November, followed by the South-East European Qualifier on the 28th November, and the Czechia qualifier on the 29th November.
