Stockport Disability Darts Extend Winmau Partnership

Red Dragon Darts

We are delighted to announce that Winmau and the Stockport Disability Darts League (SDDL) will extend their partnership for another 2 years and continue the great work of bringing as many disabilities together, through the beautiful game of darts.

The Stockport Disability Darts League have set their aim of helping anyone suffering from PTSD, Autism, Mental Health or visual impairments (and any other disability) and using darts as a rehabilitation method.

The Stockport Disability Darts League (SDDL) was formed 4 years ago after, Ben Wright SDDL founder introduced the game of darts to a stroke support group.

Ben noticed that darts was a fantastic way to support rehabilitation for many disabilities as it promotes hand and eye co-ordination, and physical movement as well as stimulating the brain.

Winmau has been a strong supporter of disability darts, dating back to the first disability partnership with the World Disability Darts Association, and continues to further it’s backing of darts’ inclusivity as a sport for everyone, no matter your circumstance.

Simon Hall has spoken on the subject:

“Winmau is a strong believer that darts is an inclusive sport with almost no boundaries to play. We try to support as many organisations as possible right down to the grass route level and help provide opportunities to people who have never stepped on the oche before.”

“The SDDL are encapsulating this in all the work they are doing and with the added support from Winmau, the team over at SDDL can excel at what they do best and provide opportunities to enjoy the game of darts.”

Ben Wright founder of SDDL has said:

“We are absolutely delighted to announce that after two and a half years as our exclusive equipment supplier. With Winmau at our sides we can continue putting smiles on the faces of people with disabilities and their carers, we will see more fun arguments about who is better between couples, parents and children but most of all we are giving a fair sporting chance to all whilst providing the very best equipment”.

The SDDL have been at the forefront disability dart, being the first fully equipped permanent darts venue in the UK with 10 purpose-built disability darts oches, the first darting organisation to be recognised and awarded “disability sports organisation of the month for November 2020 by Parasport UK and the first disability organisation to become a fully accredited JDC youth academy for children with or without disability.

We are excited to see the growth within the disability dart community and are proud to be a part of providing opportunity for a safe and enjoyable environment.

With Bobby George joining the WDDA as an ambassador this week perhaps a visit from The King of Bling is on the cards?
