Josh Payne was crowned the winner of Phase 4 at the Online Darts Live League on Saturday, after defeating Conor Heneghan 4-1 in the final, to pick up the £6,000 first prize and a Live League crown for the first time in his career.
Payne, who entered the finale having finished 2nd in Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, by losing his opener to Conor Heneghan, before brushing Graham Usher to seal his place in the Semi-Finals, where he came up against Nathan Girvan, and whitewashed the Scottish Teenager, 4-0, to book his place in the final.
This week marked a turning point for the Red Dragon man. Several times he has looked very impressive in the group stages and often qualified for the Saturday final, or the Champions Week, only to fade and be edged out. Not this time.
In the final, Payne took on Conor Heneghan for the second time on the night, and got his revenge after losing his group phase match to Heneghan, as he recorded a 4-1 victory to take the title and the £6,000 first prize and pick up the Phase 4 crown at the Live League.
Online Darts Live League returns on Tuesday 19th July with the start of Champions of Champions week commencing with the first of two days of Group A, with the dates & field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
