The event has been steadily grown from its beginnings, in 2013, as ad hoc invitational showcase/exhibition events.

By 2023 the 12 week qualifying format ,with a Champions Week finale in Week 13, was firmly established and the total players pot was excess of £1,000,000.

While there is little doubt that Taylor is the King of Blackpool many regard Colin Lloyd's 170 to win the title as the single greatest moment

World Cup of Darts underwent several incarnations, new formats and venues and will again be revamped as a doubles only event in 2023:

Since then we have progressed to a total of 7 different winners with MVG also matching Phil's run of 4 in a row....
