The World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT) will stage a World Matchplay for seniors this summer to reinforce the success of their inaugural World Championship. With the World Seniors Masters in May being the second ‘Senior Major’ a Matchplay was almost inevitable.
The venue has already been sealed and announced. The Bonus Arena in Hull will host the tournament on July 2-3 2022 with a field already featuring the first PDC Matchplay winner, Larry Butler, and 16 times winner Phil Taylor. Martin Adams, John Part and Peter Evison have also been confirmed at playing. More names will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Jason Francis and MODUS sports are in talks to gain TV coverage with more information to follow.
