Benito van de Pas produced a strong recovery on Friday to top Group C and book his place in Saturday’s MODUS Super Series Finals Night, while Sam Spivey also secured qualification after an up-and-down day that finally ended in relief.
Spivey had entered the afternoon as the clear leader after a perfect 5-0 record on Thursday. The early stages of Day Two proved much tougher, however, as the Englishman suffered several defeats and slipped down the table. Van de Pas took full advantage of Spivey’s travails, winning key matches (including a dramatic deciding-leg success that confirmed both his group victory and qualification) to finish top on 16 points.

Sam regrouped late in the session to claim the second automatic qualification spot on 14 points. Pete Hughes finished third on 10 points, just missing out, while Benjamin Flanagan-McClelland, Panagiotis Chrysospathis and Kai Fan Leung completed the group.
Van de Pas and Spivey now join David Evans (already through from Group A) in Saturday’s Finals Night. Group B’s evening session continues the hunt for the remaining places.
