Robert Owen was victorious on Saturday in winning Week 1 of the Online Live League and securing a place in Champions Week.
Stack Attack edged out Gavin Carlin in the decider, with Robert Thornton winning the 3rd place playoff to secure his qualification into Champions Week, as the first week of Phase 4 concluded.
Owen, who entered the finale having won Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, in defeating Lee Evans before losing to Josh Richardson to progress through to the Semi Finals, where at that stage he took on Robert Thornton and whitewashed the Scottish Veteran 4-0 to book his place in the final and a automatic spot at Champions Week.
In the final, Owen took on Gavin Carlin, who was looking a perfect debut week at the Live League, but ‘Stack Attack’ denied him in a last leg decider to take the Week 1 crown of Phase 4.
Elsewhere, beaten Semi Finalists Robert Thornton and Josh Richardson competed in a 3rd place playoff to see who would join Owen and Carlin in Champions Week, and it was Thornton who was victorious, in coming out as a 4-3 winner.
Online Darts Live League returns on Tuesday with Week 2 commencing with the first of two days of Group A, with the field to be confirmed in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
