Although darts is a rapidly expanding global phenomena we should not yet get carried away with our own success. Michael Van Gerwen, perhaps our game’s most widely known current participant has a little over 330,000 Instagram followers. Cristiano Ronaldo recently gained over 15 million Instagram followers in just 30 days, however, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé have lost them.
The team at Lottery Texts have revealed the celebrities that have lost (and gained) the most followers in a recent 30 day period. Fifty of the most-followed individuals on Instagram were used in the data, and the team used Social Blade to discover how many followers each celebrity had lost.
From the world of sports, acting, music and social media, many of the world’s biggest stars can see their followers dwindle. Darts players on the whole are stable and steadily increasing. But there influencer’s followers may rank in the tens of thousands rather than 10s or 100s of millions.
Here are the celebrities that have lost followers by the thousands (and even millions) in the 30 day example period:

A spokesperson for Lottery Texts said: “As our research shows, many of the most followed celebrities in the world can lose or gain followers in a matter of months, weeks or even days.
“As figures in the public eye, celebrities need to be extremely cautious about their behaviour as it is often scrutinised by people all over the world. Every decision they make, whether good or bad, seems to influence the number of followers they accumulate.”
Darts is not yet in the arena where such numbers can be considered likely but I am sure it will be a less traumatic problem to have than ranking points disappearing at a rapid rate of knots.
