The original World Professional Darts Championships hosted and staged by the BDO British Darts Organisation. The 1st tournament was held at the Heart of The Midlands Club, Nottingham, England in 1978. It was sanctioned and overseen by the accepted governing body of the time Word Darts Federation (WDF).
Eric Bristow leads the honour roll with 5 men’s titles, although Trina Gulliver holds a remarkable ten on the Women’s side. The Crafty Cockney reached ten finals in total.
