Johan Engstrom, Darren Johnson, Leonard Gates, Chas Barstow and Martin Thomas all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Jake MacMillan, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Engstrom, who entered Friday’s play on 6 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall, after completing a clean sweep with five wins from five, as he recorded victories against Jim McEwan, Jan McIntosh, Brett Claydon, Alan Norris and Darren Johnson, to end on 16 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, Darren Johnson also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, as he edged out Brett Claydon, who missed out in 3rd on leg difference, whilst Jim McEwan finished 4th on 10 points, Jan McIntosh in 5th on 6 points and Alan Norris bottom on 4 points.
In Group B, Leonard Gates topped the group overall, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four, as he recorded victories against Chas Barstow, James Richardson, Martin Thomas and Joe Croft, to end on 14 points from a possible 16. Also, the North American Star fired in a perfect nine dart leg along the way during his victory against Thomas.
Elsewhere, Chas Barstow and Martin Thomas also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Barstow ending on 12 points and Thomas on 6 points, edging out James Richardson, who missed out in 4th on leg difference, whilst Joe Croft finished bottom on 2 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week Three with the six players battling it out for just one spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with play commencing from 7:30pm GMT.
