DARRYL Pilgrim dramatically secured his place in Saturday’s finale on Wednesday, after winning four of his five matches to end his Group A campaign, top, as the field was confirmed for Groups B and C at the Modus Super Series.
Pilgrim, who entered Wednesday’s play on 12 points from the opening two days of Group A, topped the group overall, on leg difference, after winning four matches from five, to edge out Scotland’s Steven Johnstone who had led after both Monday and Tuesday’s play.
Pilgrim, something of a Super Series specialist, recorded victories against Damian Mol, Reece Colley, Steven Johnstone and Jimmy Van Schie, with his only defeat coming against Tom Sykes, to end on 20 points from a possible 30.
Elsewhere, Johnstone and Tom Sykes will compete in Group B, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Johnstone narrowly missing out on an automatic spot into Finals Night due to leg difference on 20 points, whilst Sykes ended on 18 points. The duo will be joined on Thursday and Friday Evening by Martin Adams, Paul Hogan and Kurt Parry.
Jimmy Van Schie, Reece Colley and Damian Mol will all compete in Group C, after finishing 4th, 5th and 6th respectively overall, with Van Schie ending on 12 points, whilst Colley and Mol ended on 10 points each. The trio will be joined on Thursday and Friday Afternoon by Nick Fullwell, Dave Ladley and Mat Caste.
The Modus Super Series continues on Thursday with Group C commencing from 1pm BST and Group B commencing from 10pm BST.
