Niko Springer was victorious on Sunday, in winning his third PDC Development Tour title, after defeating Leon Weber in the decider, as the fourth weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season concluded in Milton Keynes.
Springer, who claimed the title at Saturday’s Event 18, went all the way once again, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Jake Fewell, Patrik Williams, Mason Whitlock, Colinn Haverkate, Charlie Manby, Danny Jansen and Wessel Nijman, to set up a clash with his compatriot, Weber.
The final began with Weber breaking Springer’s throw in the opener with a 11 darter, which was then followed by an 18 dart hold to move 2-0 ahead in double quick time. The tie then saw three straight holds of throw between the pair, which was ended by Springer in Leg Six, as he broke Weber’ throw in 14 darts to square the match up at 3apiece and make it a best of three contest.
However, Springer showed his experience by winning the following two legs in 16 and 21 darts respectively to seal a 5-3 victory and claim yet another Development Tour title as well as the £2,500 top prize.
The PDC Winmau Development Tour season concludes between 12-13th October with Events 21-24 taking place from The Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan. Following the conclusion of the season, the top two players from the Development Tour Order of Merit will receive two-year PDC Tour Cards for 2025/26 and a place at 2024/25 World Darts Championship.
