Steve West and Derek Coulson took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Connor Scutt in Saturday’s Champions Week finale at the Modus Super Series.
Coulson, who entered Champions Week having won Week 12 just last weekend, took the early lead in Group C, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Thomas Banks, Neil Duff, Jimmy Van Schie and Jim Long, with his only defeat coming against Paul Hogan, to sit on 8 points from a possible 10 thus far.
Elsewhere, Jimmy Van Schie also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2nd behind Coulson on leg difference, whilst Paul Hogan sits in 3rd on 6 points, Jim Long and Neil Duff sit 4th and 5th respectively on 4 points each and Thomas Banks bottom on 0 points, having suffered five straight defeats.
In Group B, Steve West took the early lead, after winning three of his four matches, as he
recorded victories against Tom Sykes, Richard Rowlands and Adam Paxton, with his only defeat coming against Marvin Van Velzen, to sit on 6 points from a possible 8.
Elsewhere, Tom Sykes also ended the night on 6 points, but sits in 2nd behind West on leg
difference, whilst Marvin Van Velzen sits in 3rd on 4 points, with Richard Rowlands and Adam Paxton sitting 4th and 5th respectively on 2 points each.
The Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim
to join Connor Scutt in Saturday’s Champions Week finale, with Coulson and West taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST.
