James Wade is now rated the third favourite to win the BoyleSports World Grand Prix in Leicester this week after the sponsor slashed his odds into 13/2 from 20/1.
The two-time World Grand Prix champion was a dominant 3-0 winner over Gerwyn Price in the second round on a Thursday night which saw all four matches go the way of the underdog according to the oddsmakers. Wade now faces Belgian Mike de Decker, who teed up his first appearance in a televised quarter-final with a 3-0 victory over Gary Anderson.
The betting is close between Joe Cullen and Dimitri van den Bergh, who face off after knocking out Daryl Gurney and Dave Chisnall respectively, but Rob Cross is a hot 4/9 favourite to book a semi-final berth at the expense of Ryan Joyce.
Luke Humphries is the 11/10 favourite to land his second BoyleSports World Grand Prix in as many years as he prepares to take on 2021 champion Jonny Clayton.
“A night of upsets has only strengthened support in the betting for Luke Humphries to go all the way again, while those looking beyond the favourite are torn between Rob Cross and James Wade as men to keep an eye on.”
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports
The last eight are also continuing a charity drive this week which has triggered a £20 donation every time the double 20 is hit during the tournament.
The ‘tops’ target has already been hit 309 times after two rounds, meaning BoyleSports has contributed £6,180 to the pot so far. The player who heads the tops table come Sunday evening will choose which charity benefits from the lump sum.
You can get paid out early with BoyleSports if your player goes 1 set ahead at the World Grand Prix, even if they go on to lose the match. For more information, visit BoyleSports.com.
