The latest of the Super Series’ Special Weeks, sometimes referred to as MODUS Majors, is introduced this week and for this first time it is not an individual event.
International Pairs week begins on Monday May 5th and offers an intriguing variation to the regular MSS format. This time the players are playing for more than a few pounds and a title. There is national pride at stake!
The format follows the regular framework with Group A featuring: England, Wales, Belgium, Scotland, Netherlands and Gibraltar. As usual the top placer on Wednesday will be through to finale.
The Germans, Rep of Ireland and the hugely popular Kenyans will join via Group B before Northern Ireland, Poland and France complete the line up in Group C
Most of the sides have at least one ‘star name’, many of whom are legendary figures or major title winners, paired with a lesser known player most of whom are MSS familiar.
England’s pair of Merv King and Steve West have the benefit of friendship as well as unmatched experience. Gibraltar are the opposite being represented by the massively talented youngsters who are very comfortable playing alongside each other.
The Welsh pairing of Richie Burnett and Kurt Parry are likely to be both dangerous and highly watchable. The Scots have a similar approach with John Henderson leading the line whereas the the Dutch have sent two current breakthrough star names in Danny Van Trijp and Jimmy Van Schie an attempt to grab the inaugural title.
An array of darting superstars, returning names and newcomers have competed in these formats and help add to a remarkable independent darts structure that offers opportunity across the darts spectrum. Watch it on Pluto TV or www.youtube.com/@MODUSSuperSeries
