It was almost as if we were watching a throwback to 1970’s gameshow ‘It’s a Knockout’ as Richie Burnett & Kurt Parry secured their place in Saturday’s International Pairs Darts Finale on Wednesday, after completing a clean sweep with five wins from five to end their Group A campaign, top, as the field was confirmed for Groups B and C at the MODUS Super Series special week.
The Belgian team had led since the starting gun on Monday morning but slipped up in the home straight and were overhauled by a charging rival:
Team Wales, who entered Wednesday’s play on 10 points from the opening two days of Group A, topped the group overall after winning all five of their matches, as they recorded victories against David Munyua & Peter Wachuiri (Kenya), Neil Duff & Richard McKee (Northern Ireland), Conor Heneghan & John O’Shea (Ireland), Scott Campbell & Jim McEwan (Scotland) and Andy Baetens & Brian Raman (Belgium), to end on 20 points from a possible 30 overall.

Elsewhere, Team Scotland & Team Belgium will both compete in Group B, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Campbell & McEwan ending on 20 points and Baetens & Raman ending on 18 points. The duo will be joined on Thursday and Friday Evening by Steve Beaton & Fallon Sherrock (England), Dawson Murschell & Jeff Smith (Canada) and Danny Baggish & Danny Lauby (USA).
Team Ireland, Team Kenya & Team Northern Ireland will all compete in Group C, after finishing 4th, 5th and 6th respectively overall, with Heneghan & O’Shea ending on 16 points, Munyua & Wachuiri on 10 points and Duff & McKee on 6 points. The trio will be joined on Thursday and Friday Afternoon by Daniel Klose & Paul Krohne (Germany), Danny Van Trijp & Wesley Van Trijp (Netherlands) and Iain Cash & Nicolas Thuillier (France).
The Modus Super Series continues on Thursday with Group C commencing from 1pm BST and Group B commencing from 10pm BST.
