Groups B and C got underway at the MODUS Super Series, and it was Scott Robertson and Ted Evetts that led the way in their respective groups at the end of day one.
Robertson ran the card on Thursday, opening with a 4-3 win against Alex Williams, who just missed out on winning group A by virtue of inferior legs difference to Andy Hamilton.
A 4-0 win against Shaun Fox was followed by a 4-2 win against Terry Nash, and Robertson rounded off his day with a solid 4-0 victory against Jarred Cole.
Robertson holds the advantage in the group by two points from Williams, while Cole is a further two points behind in the all-important third spot.
Terry Nash is on two points in fifth, ahead of the winless Fox.
Evetts put a disappointing Group A campaign firmly behind him, as he bounced back to win four out of five matches on opening day.
‘Super Ted’ lost his first match of the day, going down 4-1 to Kevin Burness, but he rebounded with four straight successes, seeing off Shane Ryan, Chris Wickenden, Stijn Deklerck and Mitch Minnie to end the day top on eight points.
Burness lies second, just behind Evetts on leg difference, with his only defeat coming in a whitewash reverse to Dekerck. Wickenden is four points back in third, with Minnie and Ryan also on the same points tally, two points clear of Deklerck.
The action continues from 1pm on Friday, where Group C will be decided. Group B will be concluded later on in the evening.
