Week Eight of the MODUS Super Series continued on Thursday at the Live Lounge in Portsmouth, with Group C contested in the afternoon and Group B darts taking centre stage in the evening.
In the afternoon session, Johnny Haines made an impressive opening, posting a series of commanding wins that included 4-0 whitewashes of Jake Neale and Chuck Puleo, a 4-1 success against Scott Winder and a 4-2 victory over Francesco Basili.
Lewis Cook also enjoyed a solid day with notable wins, while Scott Winder and Jake Neale each claimed a smattering of victories in a competitive group that remains wide open heading into Friday’s concluding round.
The evening saw Jamie Owens produce the standout performance of Group B. The Englishman began with a 4-0 demolition of Scott Taylor before adding further wins, including a 4-0 success against Steve West and a 4-3 deciding-leg victory over Reece Robinson. Owens looked sharp throughout and sits in a strong position after the opening night of the group.
Reece Robinson also impressed, collecting wins over Taylor, Conan Whitehead and a hard-fought 4-3 triumph against West. Steve West, who had gone through the card unbeaten on Wednesday, endured a mixed evening after his perfect Group A campaign, while Scott Taylor and Conan Whitehead both claimed a win apiece.
Scott Robertson had already secured his place in Saturday’s Finals Night by topping Group A earlier in the week. The remaining qualification spots will be decided on Friday as Groups B and C conclude, with the top performers advancing to join Robertson on Finals Night.
Play continues on Friday with Group C from early afternoon and Group B in the evening, all live on Pluto TV and the MODUS YouTube channel.
