The Kenyan, who last year became the first player from his country to reach the PDC World Championship and then stunned Mike De Decker from two sets down, has booked his return after a gripping 8-7 win over Evans Njuguna in the North African qualifier final in Mombasa.
It was not straightforward. Munyua had a modest Continental Tour season and arrived without a final to his name. Favourites fell around him. Peter Wachiuri, the man who lost the 2024 decider and came in as the form player, was dumped out in the quarter-finals.

Munyua still had to navigate two Ugandans, then beat Peter Wanjii 7-5 in the last four with another 80-plus average.The final was tight and high quality. Neither man seized control. Njuguna missed a match dart at 8-6. Munyua took out 16 to force a decider.
Then he opened the last leg with 81 and a 180, survived a flurry of his own missed doubles, and finally nailed double 10.
That is two years running. Last December he walked into Alexandra Palace as a qualifier few outside Kenya knew. He left as a cult hero.
“Why Not” Munyua now gets another shot at the biggest stage, and another chance to recreate that first-round magic.
The PDC’s decision to split Africa into two qualifying spots after his 2025 run has already paid off. One of those spots is his again. The Palace awaits.
