England against Wales, and a 16th Europe Cup gold on the line. Deta Hedman and Eve Watson will contest the Women’s Singles final in Torshavn after two very different routes through the knockout rounds.
Hedman began the knockouts by surviving a scare. She got the better of another Welshwoman in Rhian O’Sullivan 4-3, despite being out averaged by a point, and then found another gear. The England veteran beat Croatia’s Gabriela Jurobasa 5-0 in the quarter-finals, averaging 73.68, and followed it with a 6-0 semi-final win over Norway’s Rachna David, making it back-to-back whitewash victories.

Watson has had the harder road. The 2024 pairs finalist, who lost that final alongside O’Sullivan, opened the knockouts with a 4-2 win over Scotland’s Lorraine Hyde, then survived match darts to beat Croatia’s Marina Letica 5-4 in a last-leg decider.
In the semi-finals, she faced the form player of the tournament, Italy’s Aurora Fochesata, who was held at arms length in a 6-4 win.
Fochesato had been the story of the early knockouts. The former WDF Girls’ World Champion averaged 81.20 in beating the Netherlands’ Kelly Streef 4-2 in the last 16, the highest average of the knockout rounds so far, then took Czechia’s Jitka Cisarova 5-0 in the quarter-finals to secure a medal.
David, meanwhile, had a tournament to remember for Norway. She came through a lest-leg decider against Scotland’s Sophie McKinlay in the last 16, then beat Türkiye’s Aysegul Karagoz 5-1 in the quarters which guaranteed Norway a medal in the event.

Fochesato and David both leave with bronze for themselves and their country. Hedman and Watson play for gold, and Hedman has already ended one Welsh challenge on the way.
