The opening afternoon session of the 2026 Swiss Darts Trophy produced plenty of drama at the St. Jakobshalle as eight first-round ties were decided in Basel.
William O’Connor made light work of Jani Haavisto, romping to a 6-1 victory with a solid 92.95 average. Mensur Suljović was similarly efficient, seeing off György Jehirszki 6-3.
Bradley Brooks produced the standout performance of the session, recovering from 4-2 down to defeat Niels Zonneveld 6-4 in a high-quality contest. Both men averaged over 100, with Brooks (100.73) just edging Zonneveld (100.17), who also fired in seven 180s but ultimately came up short.

Darts Upsets Continue on European Tour
Czech qualifier Karel Sedláček continued his strong form with a 6-4 win over Sebastian Bialecki, averaging a impressive 100.20 in the process. Niko Springer also progressed comfortably, whitewashing Swiss host-nation qualifier Roman Wellinger 6-1.
There was a major upset as Tom Bissell edged past Joe Cullen 6-5 in a tense last-leg decider. Cullen had the higher average (84.70 to 81.36) but could not close out the match.

Spanish number one Cristo Reyes kept his European Championship hopes alive with a 6-4 victory over Cameron Menzies, while former world champion Rob Cross produced the highest average of the afternoon (105.95) in a controlled 6-3 win over Mario Vandenbogaerde.
The evening session gets under way later today with the remaining first-round ties, including appearances from Raymond van Barneveld, Michael Smith, Dave Chisnall and more.
