20/20 at The World Grand Prix

DARTS is once more doing good at one of its showpiece events. The PDC’s World Grand Prix will also feature the new D20 for £20 fundraising challenge.

The players will be playing for their chosen charities at the World Grand Prix next week as title sponsor BoyleSports has launched a ‘D20 for £20’ Charity Challenge. BoyleSports will contribute £20 for every double 20 hit during the tournament and the player who hits the most double 20s throughout the week will get to choose which charity benefits from the lump sum.

Luke Humphries may be well backed at 7/2 for a successful defence of his BoyleSports title next week. Yet, even after he warmed up in perfect style by clinching his first Players Championship title of the year, he is still only second favourite.

Humphries will travel to Leicester buoyed by an 8-7 victory over Liverpudlian Stephen Bunting on Thursday evening. Premier League Champions and teenage star Luke littler is 3/1 tournament favourite for the unique double-in, double-out event that kicks off on Monday.

The decider in Wigan also served as a dress rehearsal for Humphries’ opening round match at the Mattioli Arena, where he is a hot 4/9 shot to condemn Bunting to a first round exit on night one.

Bunting however has been clipped into 33/1 from 40/1 after pushing Humphries all the way in Wigan, while Chris Dobey has been backed into 28/1 from 33/1 after securing his third Players Championship title of the year this week, also at the expense of Stephen Bunting.

Charities who could benefit include the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Michael van Gerwen), the Greyhound Trust (Gerwyn Price), 11Speed (Jonny Clayton), Marie Curie Cancer Care (Stephen Bunting), Movember (Damon Heta) and Prostate Cancer UK, the choice of world champion Luke Humphries.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “The unique double-in format at the BoyleSports World Grand Prix makes it a perfect stage to bring awareness to a range of charitable causes and with defending champion Luke Humphries arriving in top form, we’re sure we’ll see the target hit relentlessly throughout the week.”

Early Payout will be available on every match with BoyleSports for the World Grand Prix, which starts on Monday 7th October at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena. For more information visit BoyleSports.com
