Following a couple of excursions to Latvia, the 2026 PDC Nordic & Baltic Darts Tour rolled seamlessly into Finland for its third instalment of the season, bringing with it a fresh wave of opportunity and intrigue.
As ever, the stakes were substantial, with qualification spots on offer for three upcoming European Tour events, alongside a pair of ProTour tournaments, while the ever-alluring rewards of Alexandra Palace and World Series appearances loomed enticingly in the background.

Labanauskas Lands Another ProTour Prize
The ProTour events saw Darius Labanauskas once again underline his enduring pedigree. Arriving in Finland with thirteen titles already adorning his résumé, ‘Lucky D’ exhibited his trademark composure to add yet another accolade, overcoming Andreas Toft Jorgensen in a hard-fought final.
Having navigated past Finland’s Jani Haavisto with a 6-3 victory in the quarter-finals, Labanauskas replicated that scoreline to dismiss Sweden’s Victor Tingstrom and secure his place in the decider. The final itself proved far more exacting, with his Danish opponent applying relentless pressure throughout.
Nevertheless, the Lithuanian’s experience ultimately prevailed, as he edged a tense deciding leg to seal title number fourteen. A moment of celebration for him, albeit a frustrating chapter for the Finnish contingent, all of whom exited at the quarter-final stage.

Engström Secures Euro Tour Double Delight
Swedish stalwart Johan Engstrom proved the undeniable standout across the European Tour qualifiers, clinching the coveted single qualification place for both the International Darts Open and the inaugural Slovak Darts Open, set to unfold over the coming months.
Approaching his 50th birthday this summer, the seasoned Scandinavian demonstrated both longevity and class, overcoming Latvia’s Valters Melderis to confirm his participation in Riesa, Germany, at the end of May. Not content with just one qualification, ‘The Sweet Ferret’ – entirely unrelated to Jonny Clayton – added a second destination to his itinerary, dispatching Jonas Masalin to secure a trip to Bratislava.
Sandwiched between those achievements, the prized berth for the Hungarian Darts Trophy – the eighth stop on this year’s circuit – was claimed by Teemu Harju, who edged past Denmark’s Jonas Graversen to confirm his maiden European Tour appearance of the campaign.

Varila Delivers Home Soil Glory
Bringing the curtain down on a captivating few days in Vääksy, the host nation was finally afforded a moment of jubilation courtesy of Mio Varila, who overcame Cor Dekker in the final to ensure a fitting conclusion for the Finnish faithful.
After settling into his rhythm, Varila dispatched compatriot Petri Rasmus before producing a devastating whitewash against Haavisto. Engström, fresh from his double qualification exploits, became the next casualty in a tightly contested semi-final. Then, in the showpiece encounter, following a period of early parity, Varila surged clear, reeling off four consecutive legs to emphatically clinch the title.
Next stop: Sweden in a few weeks, where another trio of European Tour qualification spots and a fresh ProTour double-header await.
