The Bullet, Stephen Bunting, has become the latest high-profile tungsten star to spearhead the expansion of the Professional Darts Corporation’s “Darts on Your Doorstep” initiative – a project designed to reconnect the professional game with its foundational, community-driven roots.
DARTS DOING GOOD: DartsWorld’s Dedicated Area For Darts Social and Charity Activity
The concept continues to make a strong impact across Great Britain, with Bunting the latest big name to get involved, following appearances from Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey, Jonny Clayton and Damon Heta in helping launch new venues.

Former Lakeside Champion Bunting was present at Wednesday’s opening event at the Hopeville Social Club, alongside Matt Porter and Smart Energy GB. The event, hosted by Polly James, came just a day before the Premier League Darts rolled into nearby Aberdeen.

During the visit, Bunting spent time with club members in a Q&A session before stepping up to the board to take on local players at the Aberdeenshire venue.
Bunting, fronting the launch, was keen to emphasise the importance of maintaining that connection. He said: “It’s fantastic to represent the PDC and Darts on Your Doorstep, and to be involved in opening another venue is really special.”
He continued: “Darts is a grassroots sport and it’s brilliant to see the PDC investing in facilities like this, giving people the chance to come and play and enjoy the game.”
“The growth of the scheme has been incredible. It’s creating opportunities for so many local players, and it’s a privilege to be part of an event like this.”
Retaining and Expanding Darts Grassroots Connections
Those words cut to the core of the initiative’s purpose. This is not about prestige or exclusivity – it is about participation. It is about ensuring that whether you are picking up a set of darts for the first time or honing your craft with intent, there is a place for you within the sport.

Bunting also highlighted the broader impact these venues can have, adding: “You never know who might come through the doors and go on to achieve great things in the game.”
It is a sentiment rooted in lived experience. Many of darts’ biggest names began in venues not dissimilar to this – small, often overlooked spaces where talent quietly develops before demanding a larger stage.

The “Darts on Your Doorstep” project continues to serve as a vital bridge between grassroots participation and elite competition, reinforcing the idea that the pathway into professional darts should remain visible and attainable.
And in Aberdeen, that pathway has just become a little clearer.
