The Queen of Darts, Deta Hedman, once again inscribed her name into the annals of tungsten folklore, capturing a record-extending seventh Denmark Open Ladies title with a composed 5-2 victory over Zehra Gemi.
In doing so, the indefatigable 66-year-old shattered her own benchmark – a remarkable feat made all the more extraordinary by the fact her first triumph in this event dates back over three decades.

Her route to glory was characteristically resolute. After negotiating a tightly contested quarter-final against Emine Dursun, Hedman progressed with a controlled 4-2 success over Irina Armstrong, before once again ascending the summit.

There was nearly a scintillating double to accompany her latest accolade, but Hedman was narrowly denied in the Denmark Masters, succumbing in a pulsating last-leg decider to Dutch superstar Aileen de Graaf – a decorated thrower who also owns a relatively jam-packed trophy cabinet.
Gemi Grabs Youth Darts Double
Despite her defeat in a major tournament to Hedman, teenager Zehra Gemi enjoyed a highly productive weekend, securing the Denmark Open and Masters U18 Girls titles, both at the expense of fellow Turk, Aysegul Karagoz in the two finals.
