The Welsh Masters got Sand Bay’s tournament week under-way with Scotland’s Ross Montgomery and Wales’ Rhian O’Sullivan claiming the Open and Women’s titles respectively in finals played across the WDF Bronze-ranked event. Montgomery added another WDF affiliated crown to his recent Swedish Open win while O’Sullivan will be pleased to again claim a title at this storied weekend.
Women’s Welsh Masters
Rhian O’Sullivan claimed the Welsh Masters Women’s title on home soil, beating Fallon Sherrock 5-3 in the final. O’Sullivan’s route there was the tougher of the two, edging Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen 4-3 in a tight semi-final, while Sherrock progressed more comfortably with a 4-1 win over Wales’ Eve Watson.

It proved to be the kick-start for both Semi-Finalists, as Viinikainen went on to reach the Welsh Classic final later in the weekend, while O’Sullivan fell to the same opponent in that tournament’s semi-final.
Open Darts Classification
Ross Montgomery lifted the Welsh Masters title with a 5-2 win over Welsh finalist David Davies, a repeat of last year’s Irish Open Final. Montgomery had made light work of his semi-final, beating Josh Payne 5-1, and carried that form straight into the final.

Davies, who reached the title match with a 5-1 win of his own over Bradley Kirk, couldn’t find a way past the Scot on the night as Montgomery closed out the win in style. A week after ending a 6 year WDF title drought, ‘The Boss’ has added another WDF title to his name.
