Welshman Mark Layton returns to the MODUS Super Series this week after almost four years away. The 68-year-old earned his place through the ADC vault system and arrives on the back of a remarkable late-career run that included the Malta Open title and a last-32 appearance at the Lakeside World Championship.
Layton, known as “The Grinder,” is not in Monday’s Group A. That six-player group opened the week and features Andy Hamilton, Neil Duff, Daniel Klose, Jordan Brooks, Ziggy Schenk and Noa-Lynn van Leuven (making her Super Series debut). Group A continues Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30am BST.

Series 15 Week 5 is already under way in Portsmouth. Group A opened on Monday morning with Andy Hamilton, Neil Duff, Daniel Klose, Jordan Brooks, Ziggy Schenk and debutant Noa-Lynn van Leuven. Layton is part of this week’s overall field as a vault qualifier and will enter when Groups B and C begin on Thursday — Group C from 1pm BST, Group B from 10pm BST. Finals Night is Saturday from 7:30pm.

Duff leads after a solid opening day. Klose and Schenk sit just behind. Play resumes Tuesday morning. Layton’s first darts of the week will come later — another reminder that the Super Series still has room for players who refuse to hang up the tungsten.
