The 4th weekend of CDC action took place in Illinois last weekend, where events eight through to ten were played. With the season containing 16 darts events in total, the World Championship races will really start to shape up after this weekend.
Going into the weekend, Adam Sevada had a big lead at the top of the Order of Merit but had already qualified for the World Championships thanks to his North American Championship win. Likewise, David Cameron had already secured his World Championship return with the Cross-Boarder Challenge Title at the start of the CDC season.

The CDC Tour offers World Championship spots to the highest ranked player from each of Canada and USA that hasn’t already qualified through another route. After the last block of events, Leonard Gates led the American race on 51 points, with Danny Young in second on 42 points, and Fred Krueger in third on 36 points.
In the Canadian race, 2026 newbie Brayden Hall lead the race with 41 points, followed by Jeff Smith on 29.5 points and Jason Roker on 20 points. Jeff Smith didn’t enter this weekends events, giving Hall a chance to extend his lead.
Event 8 – Winmau Darts Challenge
The first event of the weekend kicked off at midday local time on the Saturday, which saw the first appearance of Dan Lauby Senior in a CDC Event in over 4 years, following the return of his son Danny Lauby to the tour having lost his PDC Tour Card in 2025.
Early exits included the likes of John Part and Jason Roker in the Last 64, followed by Doug Boehm, Alex Spellman, Danny Young and Jim Long in the Last 32. Only three seeds saw their way through to the Quarter-Finals, but all three picked up wins, joined by BJ Pollock.
Gary Mawson went on to beat the North American #1 Adam Sevada in the Final, claiming his third CDC Title, the other two coming in 2018 and 2024. The former UK Open finalist is having a resurgent 2026, having qualified for the US Masters in June, a first PDC stage appearance in over a decade.
The performance of the event came from David Cameron, averaging 99.34 in his 5-1 win over Roland Sargent in the Last 32. Fred Krueger also put in a 97.07 average in his Last 16 win over 2nd seed Leonard Gates.

Event 9 – Magic Darts Masters
The action continued into the evening on Saturday, with the second event of the day getting underway at 6pm local time. John Part failed to impress again, falling short in the Last 32 to Jason Watt, while Danny Lauby knocked out 6th seed Doug Beohm in the Last 64. Top seed Adam Sevada fell in the Last 16 to Albert Anstey
Danny Lauby went on to make the Quarter-Finals of a CDC Event for the first time since October 2023, having only attended the first weekend in 2026 and not playing much in his years with a Tour Card. He was joined in the Quarter-Finals with a few underdogs, such as Anstey and Ram Guevara.
Jason Roker had a run all the way to the Semi-Finals, putting him in the conversation for the Canadian World Championship spot, before losing to Fred Krueger. Krueger claimed the title, winning a second in just three events having only won his CDC Tour Card earlier this year! This astonishingly put Fred Krueger in a provisional World Championship spot, granted there was still another 7 events to play in 2026.
The performance of the event came from runner-up Alex Spellman, averaging 93.66 in his 5-1 win over Kevin Luke in the Last 32. Jason Watt also managed a 92.11 average in his Last 16 win over PDC Tour Card holder Jim Long.

Event 10 – Boomerang Tours Fiesta
The final event of the weekend came on Sunday at 11am, with an interesting format change to the usual best of 9, 11, and 13 legs. The event would be played as a set-play tournament, but with sets being best of 3 legs, similar to that of the PDC Winmau World Masters. It began with best of 5 set, before jumping to 7 in the Semi-Finals, and best of 9 in the Final.

A few underdog runs worth mentioning in the event, such as Kevin Luke reaching the Semi-Finals in his first CDC ProTour weekend since June 2022, as well as Charlie Harrison and Joseph Chaney reaching the Quarter-Finals.
Fred Krueger lost out in the Semi-Finals to Leonard Gates in a very important match in terms of the World Championship race, should the winner of that game gone on to win the tournament, they’d have had a nice lead going into CDC Weekend 5.
Fortunately for Krueger, Adam Sevada saw off Leonard Gates in a final that saw the two top seeds fight it out, securing a twelfth CDC Title for Adam Sevada, and a fourth of the year in just ten events.
The performance of the set-play event came from Leonard Gates, averaging 95.94 in his Last 16 win over Mike Scarborough. Adam Sevada also put in a 94.11 average against Joseph Chaney in the Quarter-Finals.

What this all means?
Leonard Gates’ lead in the World Championship Race is cut down to just the singular point by Fred Krueger, while Danny Young falls 19 points short. Despite a poor weekend from Brayden Hall, picking up just two wins, he increases his lead over second from 11.5 points to 13.5 points, largely due to Jeff Smith not attending, A good weekend from Jason Roker however puts himself in the picture.
CDC Weekend #5 takes place in Illinois again, over the 19th-20th of September, with Events 11-13 being played.
