Trina Excited for Yeovil Return

Trina Gulliver will return to Senior Circuit action this month as she makes the trip to Westlands in Yeovil for the 2023 World Senior Masters. The Golden Girl will be taking part in her 2^nd Senior Masters campaign, having lost in the Last 16, 12 months ago against Richie Howson at Lakeside.

Trina was handed the BDO Ladies World Championship trophy at the Champion of Champions, after LP Metal Detecting bought the trophy at an auction, reuniting it with the player who had won the competition a record breaking 10 times.

“It was amazing, I couldn’t believe it, it was such a fantastic gesture, and I had no clue at all. I think you could see that if you play it back, I was in total shock.”

The 10-time World Champion will open the competition as she prepares to face former MODUS Super Series winner Chris Mason in the 1^st Round. The Golden Girl impressed in her last outing on the Seniors Circuit, suffering a narrow 10-7 defeat to Martin Adams in the Quarter Finals of the Champion of Champions.

“I’ve played there before so that will be interesting, I’m sure it will be a great setup as to previous events there have been. I’m looking forward to playing against Chris, that will be an entertaining match, and as you say it’s the opening game, so I hope we put a good show on for everyone.”

“I was pleased with how I played against Martin; I dwindled a bit in the last few legs. I need to be a bit more prepared to step up and get over the line, I’m excited for what’s to come and it has filled me with confidence.”

Gulliver is seen as the trailblazer for ladies’ darts after her efforts at the BDO World Championship, dominating the sport for so many years and winning numerous World Titles at Lakeside.

The female game continues to develop on multiple fronts with the The PDC Women’s Series is also continuing to thrive, having seen the introduction of female players at the World Darts Championship, which has been in place since 2019.

Trina adds:

“The PDC have given us a good platform to work with, I love the PDC Women’s Series I think it’s great, there is a lot of talent coming through. Now it is being dominated by Beau (Greaves) and you’ve got Lisa (Ashton) and Fallon (Sherrock), with Mikuru (Suzuki) having a good time in the last competition.”

2023 has also seen the introduction now of the ADC Ladies Tour, with the opening competitions won by 4-time World Champion Lisa Ashton and 7-time Scottish Open winner Deta Hedman.

The World Senior Masters starts from June 24^th – June 25^th from Westlands in Yeovil, with set play format returning once more for a Seniors Event. Trina will take to the oche first as she plays Chris Mason in the Last 16 live on BT Sport.
